Adeline Angeline Walkush

Adeline Angeline Walkush, 96 of Belle Vernon, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at The Residence at Hilltop surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 14,1927 in Wickhaven, PA, daughter of the late Silvio Pierotti and the late Edna Nigra Pierotti, named for her Aunt Adelina in Pianorso, Italy. She was valedictorian of Marion High School class of 1945, graduated from Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in 1949, and worked as a nurse for over forty years at Charleroi-Monessen and Mon-Valley Hospitals.  She and her husband also owned and operated two restaurants in the 1950s and 60s, Tall Toms in Monessen and Super 71 Barbeque, popularly called Smokey Joe’s, in North Belle Vernon. Adeline will be best remembered for her fierce loyalty to family, her indefatigability, her polite and friendly nature, and for the love and care she offered to her family, friends, and patients. She was always there for anyone in need.

She is survived by her loving children, sons Joe and Jonathan and daughters Patricia (Patty) Kinne and Margaret (Peggy) Walkush and their families: daughter-in-law Mary Walkush,   granddaughter Ann and grandson Joseph, his wife Fia, and great-grandchildren Adeline, Lucy and Jagger; son-in-law Harold (Tad) Kinne, grandson Jonathan and great-granddaughter Lola , grandson Gregory and wife Cherrish; daughter-in-law Amber Derek and grandson Declan Walkush and his fiancée Stephanie Ng; sister, Pauline Timko of Perryopolis; sister, Jean Ambrose of Belle Vernon; sister Joan Beaumariage and husband Bill of Uniontown; sister Marlene Pope of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law Joann Pierotti of Valparaiso,IN; faithful friend Dianne Hepple of Charleroi; cousins Graziano Libbra and Rita Croce of Pianorso, Italy; and numerous other relatives.  She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph F. Walkush, three brothers Peter, Silvio and John Pierotti, and sister Marie M. Galla. 

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.   Prayers of Transfer will be held Friday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 1:30 pm at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant.   Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Adeline Walkush to Mon Valley Nurses Association Nurses Scholarship Fund at 814 Belle Avenue, Belle Vernon, PA 15102.  The family would like to thank all the staff of The Residence at Hilltop and OSPTA Hospice for the loving care and attention that they provided.
