David Igoe

November 29, 1921 — April 30, 2016

David W. Igoe, 94, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:39 pm at his home.

Born November 29, 1921 in Fairhope, he was the son of the late David and Elizabeth Kiefer Igoe Gates.   A lifelong resident of Fairhope, Mr. Igoe was a member of St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church, Fairhope and was retired from Whg-Pgh Steel, Allenport Plant, where he worked in the Strip Mill.  He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Navy, was a member of the Fayette City American Legion Post 484,  enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved woodworking.

He is survived by his four children David Igoe Jr. of Fairhope, Rosalie McFall of Fairhope, Cindy & Robert Basile of Perryopolis, Thomas Igoe of Fairhope; a brother & sister in law Robert & Barbara Igoe of West Newton; sister & brother in law Elizabeth & Sturgis Gillingham of Monongahela; sister in law Jackie Gates of Connecticut ; 11 grandchildren Ronette Anden, Mindi Ruokonen & husband Ryan, Erika Atkinson & husband Daniel, Lesley Lubrani & husband Michael, Robert Basile & wife Nina, Cydney Igoe, Dwayne Igoe, Ronald Igoe, Ryan Igoe & wife Elizabeth, Thomas Igoe &wife Latisha, David Igoe and 15 great grandchildren Emery & Dane Anden, Hunter, Chase & Mollie Ruokonen, Michael & Mia Lubrani, Robert & Alec Basile, Ayden, Ronald, Kiana, Gibson, Malon & Madison Igoe.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jean Lorraine Baron Igoe (5/13/1986) to whom he was married for 45 years, five sisters Mary Igoe, Alice Eackman, Emma Lou Bettinelli, Gloria Hohenberger, Ruth Clark, a brother Alvin Gates and a dear friend Myrtle Greco.

Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Prayer Service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church with the Rev. Felix Pyzowski as celebrant.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
