Douglas S. Matson

Douglas “Dog” S. Matson, 51, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at his home. Born May 30, 1970 in N. Charleroi, PA., he was the son of the late Bruce Matson Sr., and Veronica Komperda Matson, who survives and resides in North Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area, Douglas was a local handyman and landscaper. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music, playing his bass guitar, and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Douglas was a very gentle soul, who was a happy go lucky person with a good heart. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother & sister-in-law Bruce & Jeanette Matson of Belle Vernon, niece Kaitlin Gorzelsky and husband Adam Gorzelsky, nephew Nicholas Matson and wife Paige Matson, great nephew Landon Gorzelsky, great nieces Lorelei and Iris Gorzelsky, and his dog Gizmo. A private memorial service was held at Journey by Grace with Pastor Heather Goodwin as officiant.
