Edward J. Wiggins

August 26, 1941 — February 19, 2025

Edward J. Wiggins, 83, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Penn Highlands - Mon Valley, Monongahela. Born August 26, 1941 in Rices Landing, PA he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian Waters Wiggins. Graduate of Cumberland Twp. High School, Carmichaels, proudly served in the PA Army National Guard – 110th Infantry Division, Waynesburg. He was retired from Northrop Grumann Corp. where he worked as a foreman. Edward was presbyterian by faith, enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and always made sure to plant his seed potatoes on St. Patrick’s Day. He also enjoyed playing casino Blackjack, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, picnics, was a collector of sorts, attending auctions and flea markets. “Back in the day” he loved to dance and swim and often laughed at how many shoes he wore out doing the ‘Twist.’ 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanne Sveda Wiggins and was looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on September 20th ; two sisters Marjorie Frammartino of Masontown, Marilyn Hlebinsky of Charleston, WV; two sisters in law Thelma Sveda of Fayette City, Florence Sveda of Charleroi; seven nephews, David Markovich, Vince Frammartino Jr. (Lorraine), Tom Hlebinsky Jr. (Kathy), Ken Vavrek, Michael J. Sveda Jr. (Heather), Thomas Sveda Jr. (Nancy), Jack Sveda (Allyson); two nieces, Aleta Bohan (Tom), Donna Sutton; canine buddy Penny; several great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Pavlovich, Bernadine Roman, Mona Vavrek; niece Susan Hlebinsky; seven brothers in law, Vince Frammartino, Tom Hlebinsky, Tom Vavrek, Tony Roman, Frank Pavlovich, Michael J. Sveda, Thomas Sveda; canine best buddy Rocky.  

Visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM with Pastor Doug Conroy of the First Presbyterian Church of Finleyville officiating at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rostraver Twp. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Edward Wiggins to the Fayette Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 1282, Uniontown, Pa, 15401.
