Gwyn Halkias

Gwyn Varega Halkias, 67, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Born June 16, 1950 in N. Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Bonny A. Lancaster Varega.  A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Gwyn was a retired language and reading teacher and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Halkias to whom she was married 43 years, sister & brother in law Beverly Gayle & Michael Tokar of Carroll Twp., nieces and nephew Rhiannon Brown & husband Bryan of Augusta, GA, Michael Tokar & wife Olivia of Carroll Twp., Mallory Tokar & Fiancé Donald Hayden of Midland, Shawn Braqddock & husband Jamie; sister in law Becky Halkias of Washington DC, mother in law Shirley Halkias of Monessen and six great nephews & nieces Ace Tokar, Ethan Tokar, Alexander Brown, Jacob Braddock, John Braddock & Mary Braddock.  She is preceded in death by her brother John T. 'Jack' Varega.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Funeral services will be held Monday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations at 10AM with the Rev. Dr. D.W. 'Chip' Norton of officiating.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Gwyn Halkias to Magee Women's Hospital Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
