Helen Joyce Matty

Helen Joyce Revak Matty, 81, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 25, 1943 in N. Charleroi, PA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Peters Revak. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Matty was a member of St. Basil The Great Russian Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon. Mrs. Matty taught for 35 years, teaching in the Norwin, Charleroi, and Belle Vernon Area School Districts.

She is survived by her son Dean Matty, daughter and son in law Marie & John Slagus, brother Joe Revak, brother & sister in law Rich and Ann Revak, sister & brother in law Priscilla & Ralph Boyd, sister in law Saundra Revak, four very special granddaughters, Jessica Slagus (Tyler Porter), Kaitlyn (Nick) Dizon, Lauren Slagus (Carter Stasicha), Malory (Nick) Demcheshen, great granddaughter Kennedy Joyce Porter, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John Matty, three brothers Ronnie, Dennis, Keith Revak and sisters in law Kim Revak, Sandy Revak.

Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Relatives and friends will gather directly at St. Basil The Great Russian Orthodox Church, Ridge Road, Belle Vernon, for funeral services at 10 AM with Rev. Joseph Romanchak.  Interment will take place in West Newton Cemetery. Parastas services will be held Monday at 7 PM in the funeral home. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Helen J. Matty to the American Cancer Society or St. Basil’s Church.
