John P. Yurkovich, 89, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., passed away peacefully Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Uniontown Health & Rehab, Uniontown. Born July 8, 1931 in Ellsworth, PA he was the son of the late Peter and Barbara Yurkovich. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 64 years, Mr. Yurkovich was a member of St. Sebastian RC Church and also attended St. Joan of Arc Church, Farmington for many years, a retired warehouseman from Supervalue and a veteran of Korean where he served in the US Army. John was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and it's Bocci league, the Belle Vernon K of C golf league along with numerous other golf leagues winning numerous championships. John was also a former Scoutmaster for St. Sebastian Boy Scout Troop and enjoyed fishing with his children.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Laratta Yurkovich to whom he was married 64 ½ years, son & daughter in law John J. & Teri Yurkovich of Evan, WV, daughter & son in law Carol & Dr. George Grisnik of South Point, sister-in-law Marie Nelson of St. Alboner, WV; three grandchildren Brandon Grisnik, Jarred Donahoe, Chad Donahoe; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by eight brothers Tom, Frank, Pete, Rudy, George Yurkovich and Albert, Alex & Paul Yurkovich in infancy; six sisters Agnes Rados, Mary Zoldak, Helen Ross, Katie Brova, Martha Hrutkay and Ann Marenkovich.
Private family visitation was held Tuesday in the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183 followed by funeral services with the Rev. Michael Crookston of St. Sebastian Church officiating. Interment with military honors took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery
