Lance Michael McCombs, 30, formerly of the Mon Valley, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in Lansing, Mich., following a brief illness.
He was born September 4, 1985, in Washington, a son of Leann McCombs Perkins and stepfather William Perkins of Toronto, Ohio.
Mr. McCombs loved to cook, working at various restaurants around the Mon Valley as a chef. He dreamed of being on "Hell's Kitchen." He also enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Rebecca Arnold McCombs of Lansing; a son, Lucien McCombs of Lansing; a daughter, Kieran McCombs of Lansing; a sister, Tabitha Wiggins of Jefferson; maternal grandmother Nancy McCombs of Toronto; maternal grandfather Thomas McCombs of Florida; a great-uncle, Charles Allshouse of California; an aunt, Cindy Hartley; and several additional aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. McCombs was an organ donor. He was able to save two separate individuals with his kidneys. He will be receiving a medal of honor for his sacrifice.
Deceased are his maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Margaret Allshouse, and paternal grandmother Janet Kavakich.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., the time of a memorial service, Sunday, February 14, in Elco Civic Center, Route 88, Elco, with the Rev. Sue Sphar-Calhoun officiating.
