Lewis E. Gardner

Lewis ‘Pap’ Edward Gardner, 87, This world has lost a great gentle soul. Pap passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh after a brief illness. Born April 10, 1937 in Dawson, PA he was the son of the late John and Lyda Sechrist Gardner. He graduated from Perryopolis Lower Tyrone High School in 1955. He served in the PA National Guard for four years. He worked various jobs until he was hired at Westinghouse Airbrake where he retired from. 

He enjoyed taking his family camping at various State Parks, with Pymetuning his favorite. He also loved gardening. He and mom planted a large garden every year and canned everything. His homegrown tomatoes were priceless. He was an amazing husband, father, and total gentleman. He was an honest, modest, and selfless man who enjoyed helping others. 

Left to cherish his memory are his son Douglas (Carol) Gardner of Millersburg, OH, daughter Tami (David) Ansell of Dawson, granddaughter Natalie (Lloyd) Colebank, great granddaughter and great grandson Delaney and Levi Colebank all of Dawson, brother Carl Gardner of Dawson, sister Margaret Vargo of Irwin, brother in law Walt Hartman of Fayette City, sister in law Mary Gardner of Perryopolis, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Janet Anderson Gardner, son Dale Gardner, two brothers Ralph and Melvin Gardner, and sister Thelma Hartman. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Green Ridge Memorial Park.
