Nellie J. Halgas

Nellie J. Bakaitis Halgas, 98, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at Hallsworth House, Monessen.  Born March 31, 1920 in Warner, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Yukna Bakaitis.  A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Halgas was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by great nieces Colleen Hurley, Michele Peckyno, Stacey Mechum, great nephews Gary Mavrakis, Kevin Hurley; great great nieces Ashley Matthews, Kaitlyn McManus, Kayla Mavrakis, Megan Mavrakis; great great nephews Ryan McManus, a great great great niece Evelyn Matthews and a great great great nephew TJ Matthews.  She is preceded in death by her husband Mack Halgas; three brothers Joseph Bakaitis, Lawrence Bakaitis, Peter Bakaitis and two sisters Jessie Brown and Julia Mullen.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Prayers of Transfer will be held Monday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 12:30 pm at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Francisco R. Gan Jr. Pastor as celebrant.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
