Pauline Holod, 105, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Smithton, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at Amber House, Mt. Pleasant. Born April 3, 1913 in Smithton, she was daughter of the late John and Effie Kopeluh Holod. She was a member of Hope Memorial Lutheran Church, Smithton, served as Sunday School Secretary, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible Study, visited the Holy Land on numerous trips, was a graduate of West Newton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from California University and retired as an Elementary School Teacher from South Huntingdon Elementary School. Pauline also worked during summer vacations on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City making taffy.
The last surviving member of her family she is preceded in death by her brother Michael Holod; eight sisters Grace Hoenshel, Mildred Kelly, Helen Hoffman, Mary Tkach, Annie Chaybin, Maggie Uritzie, Alice Yasko and Nellie Holod.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 9-11 am at the Hope Memorial Lutheran Church, Smithton followed by funeral services at 11 am with the Pastor Timothy Dawes officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
