Samuel P. Henderson

Samuel P. Henderson, 74, of Vanderbilt, Franklin Twp., passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at his home. Born August 12, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Peter and Millicent Lindsay Henderson. A resident of Vanderbilt for the past 46 years, Sam was Christian by faith. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an Electrical Engineering degree, then started his career at USX (US Steel) and worked between the Irvin Works and Edgar Thomson plants for 32 years. At the time of his retirement, he was a Senior Processing Manager with various maintenance groups and also worked as a consultant to various steel mills in PA, Ohio & Indiana. Sam enjoyed building and repairing equipment, constructing buildings, tending to his gardens, fields and landscaping and raising farm animals. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his buddies and his wife, travelling to the beach with his family and scouting out the t-shirt shops at the coast. He was a dog lover, his favorite dog being Buddy. Sam was a generous person to all who knew and loved him, giving of himself and his time. Many would say that he could fix anything! He was a people-person, loved his family deeply and showed his love to all by solving their problems, being supportive in every way and showing that he cared. He did not want to leave us, but the Lord called him home after a valiant fight against cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Joyce Walter Henderson, daughter & son-in-law Sarah & Robert Warman of Pittsburgh, grandson & cuddle buddy Luke Warman, and nephew Richard Henderson. He is preceded in death by his sister Frances Henderson. 

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-5:30 PM followed by funeral services at 5:30 PM with the Pastor Simeon Hatcher of Perryopolis Baptist Church as celebrant at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.
